ABOUT -

» Yance was disowned from his family and in his escape, he was accosted by monsters. He could do nothing but run in blind pain through the snow, eventually collapsing near the edge of the Icewarden's domain. He was discovered by a Fae who was an unlawful escaped experiment by a sect of arcanists on an ice sprite, transformed into a dragon with no memory and a high aptitude for magic and healing. She had been wandering the veritable wasteland for weeks, not encountering anyone until the battered figure of Yance upon an iceberg.

» It wasn't long after that their lair, named The Wandering Floe, as it was a large iceberg carved into the semblance of a ship, became a bustling place where dragons would rest on long journeys. It was known for taking in injured dragons with nowhere else to go. The combined efforts of Yance as a student of alchemy specializing in the synthesis of medical technologies (such as prosthetics and derivations of medical herbs), and Yore's raw and powerful healing magic meant this place was once one of the best hospitals in the world.

» However, disaster befell them from a unstable concoction that covered Yance's coat in a compound that radiated an odd heat. The Wandering Floe began to melt and would disappear entirely in a matter of hours.

Residents fled en masse, though not all were able-bodied and subsequent recoveries were stalled severely. Luckily, through the determination of Yore, she saved each and every one of the dragons in danger of hypothermia or drowning. When she looked at Yance in that moment, however, it was with a cold hatred.

» Yance fled to the Icewarden's employ, and against his wishes was quickly reassigned to an archeological site in the Snowsquall Tundra. It was there that he became a quiet leader once more to the lost, unable to turn anyone away no matter their inclinations. They address him simply as ""Boss"", whether with respect, sympathy, or disdain.

Yance left the volatile study of alchemy behind him, content to excavate the Dugout. The habits of a lifelong student never die, often so focused on his work that many leadership responsibilities are left to other residents.

Yore returned, inevitably drawn back to her first patient. She resides occasionally in the Dugout, still unsure how to reconcile the conflicting feelings she had about the loss, and the state of the one responsible for the tragedy. There is a thin and fragile peace.

Yance fears it won't last, though he can do nothing but move forward.
